Well I noticed that a lot of people have been asking me how I get Club Penguin swf links that I use in some of my posts. Well I am going to explain how you will be able to find them as well.
First you will need the main part of the swf link. You usually get them by using a program such as a flash decompiler, but do avoid the hassle of downloading it if you don’t have one already I will provide you with the main ones.
Note: In this post any URL that has red font in it is not a real URL. It will not lead you anywhere it just shows you the main part of the swf link. Anything that has green font is there as an example for what to look for.
Club Penguin Catalog Swfs
The swf for Club Penguin catalogs are: http://play.clubpenguin.com/artwork/catalogue/catalog name here_catalog id here.swf
Now to find the proper catalog name and id that it is currently at you will need to visit this site: http://play.clubpenguin.com/setup.txt
If you look in that site you will see names of catalogs and a number after it; example:
&clothing=0801&
So what that tells us is that we have to put that in to the URL that is used for catalogs and I will show you how. Put the name “clothing” (since that is what is in the setup page) in the part after it says catalogue, and then put the number 0801 (since that is what is in the setup page) after the underscore. Your URL should now look like this:
http://play.clubpenguin.com/artwork/catalogue/clothing_0801.swf
And what do you know? That link leads us to Club Penguin’s current catalog.
So basically all you have to do is replace the catalog name and the catalog id. Here are some more catalog ones you can find on the setup page:
&sport=0711& = The Sport Catalog
&hair=0801& = The Wig Catalog
&furniture=0712& = The Furniture Catalog
&upgrade=0712& = The Igloo Upgrade Catalog (In this one you put igloo in the URL not upgrade)
&adopt=0711& = The Puffle Catalog (In this one you put puffle in the URL not adopt)
&pets=0711& = The Puffle Furniture Catalog
&fish=0703& = The FISH Catalog
&cards=0712& = The Cards Catalog
&pirate=0& = The Pirate Catalog (Currently there is no pirate catalog so this will lead nowhere, hence the 0)
&costume=0801& = The Costume Catalog
And I found all of those using the same process that I taught you with the Clothing Catalog.
Club Penguin Telescope Swfs
Now the telescope one is probably easier to understand than the catalog one, because there is only one swf that it involves, which is this:
http://media.clubpenguin.com/artwork/tools/telescope#.swf
Now what we have to do is replace the # with the current telescope id that it is at. To check the id that it is at we once again have to visit: http://play.clubpenguin.com/setup.txt
If you look you will find this:
&telescope=1228&
That tells us the current id that the telescope is at, so all we have to do now is punch in the number 1228 in to the swf and we get:
http://media.clubpenguin.com/artwork/tools/telescope1228.swf which is the swf for the telescope with the ice in it.
Here are some more telescope ids you will come across:
&telescope=0& = Blank Telescope
&telescope=1& = Rockhopper’s Ship Far Away
&telescope=2& = Rockhopper’s Ship Close
&telescope=3& = Rockhopper’s Ship Leaving (Close)
&telescope=4& = Rockhopper’s Ship Leaving (Far)
&telescope=5& = Rockhopper’s Ship Wreaked (Far)
&telescope=6& = Rockhopper’s Ship Wreaked (Close)
And once again, I found all those by using the same method I found the first one with.
This should have given you a basic understanding on how to find swfs; I will add more things later. Also if you have a type of swf that you want to know how to get (other than the ones mentioned in this post) post a comment and maybe I will try to add on to this post teaching how to get that kind of swf.
If some links in this post don’t work it is because Club Penguin tends to take down some of their swfs.
Newspaper Swfs:
Finding the newspaper’s swf is also very easy. All you need to do to find that is use this link:
http://media.clubpenguin.com/artwork/news/Year/Date.swf
So you just have to change the year and the date to the day the newspaper came out and you will have the swf for that newspaper, for example:
The latest newspaper came out on Janurary 10th 2008 so we just replace the year and the date in that URL above, and we end up with this:
